Concerning the claims of the Chevalier Lobet upon the property of the Holy House -- the 'Saincte maison' -- of Thonon. François has agreed to ask d'Albigni to examine his claims and diplomatically undertakes to accept a reasonable decision to end the affair. 'Je pense plus a propos que la mayson retienne le tiltre en donnant une pension sortable a la valeur du prieuré comme seroit de la moytie ou autrement ainsy qu'il sera jugé'. This is to be done at the feast of Our Lady in September, when all the Council of the Holy House will be at Thonon and can ratify the agreement.

François had won back for the Catholic church the Chablais, the area south of Lake Geneva which had been dominated by the Calvinists since the Reformation, and he celebrated the first mass at Thonon after its restoration. His intention was to make the 'Saincte maison' a centre of Catholic training, offering, as well as spiritual instruction, practical skills to give secular priests employment.
