The present MISSIONS COLLECTION is number 1 in a limited edition set of 40 produced for commercial sale including all 22 of the Missions wristwatches and a reproduction of the original 1957 Speedmaster. Omega produced another 10 sets for non-commercial use, 5 for "Out-of-Business" and 5 for "Artist's Proof".
By 1978 the Speedmaster had become part of the standard equipment for astronauts and cosmonauts during their missions in space. The model was worn during important missions as the Apollo 11 and Neil Armstrong's walk on the moon as well as its instrumental use in the timing of reentry for the almost disastrous Apollo 13 flight.
Missions represented in the set are:
Apollo 7, Apollo 8, Apollo 9 "Gumdrop & Spider", Apollo 10 "Snoopy and Charlie Brown", Apollo 11 "Columbia and Eagle", Apollo 12 "Intrepid and Yankee Clipper", Apollo 13 "Odyssey and Aquarius", Apollo 14 "Kitty Hawk and Antares", Apollo 15 "Endeavour and Falcon", Apollo 16 "Casper and Orion", Apollo 17 "America and Challenger", Gemini V, Gemini VI, Gemini VII, Gemini VIII, Gemini IX, Gemini X, Gemini XI, Gemini XII, Skylab 1, Skylab 2, Skylab 3.
