Château d'Yquem--Vintage 1983
Sauternes, 1er grand cru classé. Château-bottled Excellent appearance. Levels base of neck
Tasting Note: A plethora of admiring notes so consistent that it is pointless to repeat every description. Never very deep in colour, now an attractive orange-gold, its bouquet emitting the usual scents, but with great intensity, apricots, honeyed botrytis, crème brûlée; a sweet, creamy wine masking considerable power and assertiveness. Superb yet still evolving. Last noted in jeroboam at the white/red summit at the Hotel Eden Parc, Bad Schwalbach, Nov 2000 ***** M.B.
