A CHELSEA PORCELAIN PART TEA-SERVICE
CIRCA 1750-52, RAISED ANCHOR MARK TO TWO TEABOWLS
Painted with vignettes of travellers in wooded river landscapes, among scattered sprigs, comprising: a teapot and cover (minute chip to tip of spout); a cream-ewer (hairline crack across one lobe of rim); six teabowls and seven saucers (one teabowl with minute chipping to rim, one saucer with rim chip, one with hairline crack, two with slight wear to enamels) (8)

專家說明

Each teabowl and each saucer of the present service share a common print source and are inspired by Meissen porcelain. The decorator has varied each scene slightly but the overall similarities of each element proves that this service is a rare, almost intact survivor from the period. See F. Severne Mackenna, Chelsea Porcelain, The Triangle and Raised Anchor Wares (London, 1948), pl. 49, no. 98.
