專家說明

This work will be included in the forthcoming Auguste Rodin catalogue critique de l'oeuvre sculpté currently being prepared by the Comité Rodin at Galerie Brame et Lorenceau under the direction of Jérôme Le Blay under the archive number 2002-43B.

This somber, enigmatic head is related to one which appears above Le Penseur in the cornice of the tympanum of La porte de l'Enfer. "Amid those tormented heads and leering skulls, the Small Head reads as one of many moods in the spectrum of human suffering" (L. Ambrosini and M. Facos, op. cit., p. 67).
