專家說明
Jacques Dubois, maître in 1742.
Although perhaps better known for his lacquer furniture, Jacques Dubois was equally accomplished at the delicate bois de bout marquetry of foliate tendrils displayed on this commode. A commode by Dubois with similar marquetry is illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIme Siècle, Paris, 1998, p. 271. Similar marquetry within a frame of vine-wrapped scrolling bronzes also features on the celebrated encoignure by Dubois, now in the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles. A similar commode was sold Christie's London, April 10 2002, lot 255.
