Olusegun Obasanjo is the former president of Nigeria and a retired general of the Nigerian Army. He served twice as the president of this West African nation. During his first term from February 1976 to October 1979, Obasanjo came to power for the country as a military leader. When he took on this leadership role again, from May 1999 until May 2007, he did so as an elected official.
