Armando (DUTCH, B. 1929)

Armando's work as a member of the Nul group is characteristic because of his use of industrial products and materials in one uniform colour. The work thus becomes more anonymous and creates a distance with the viewer. As the surface is entirely flat, the use of materials is essential. It 'only' shows six red metal sheets, nailed to a board and painted red. Except from the colour, there is nothing that distracts the viewer from looking at the materials Armando applied. The artist did not want to comment on reality, but objectively register the daily environment.
