Autograph draft telegram to Gordon in Khartoum (readdressed via Sir Evelyn Baring in Cairo), War Office, 21 February 1884, 'My private advice. Do not answer telegrams about your doings. Ironically, Wolseley's telegram was written only a month before the Mahdi cut the telegraph lines from Khartoum. (2)
