專家說明
This beautifully crafted and neatly fitted miniature dressing-table nécessaire is typical of early 19th century Parisian manufactures sold in the fashionable shops of the Palais Royal, just above the Louvre.
The same attractive combination of engraved mother-of-pearl set within carefully tooled ormolu borders is characteristic of this fine production. A miniature ormolu-mounted mother-of-pearl nécessaire and musical box in the shape of a windmill was sold at Christie's London, 5 July 2007, lot 8. Another related little 'Palais Royal' workbox, modelled as a miniature settee, was sold from the Russel B. Aitken collection, Christie's New York, 25 November 2003, lot 8.
