專家說明

This overmantel bears comparison with a series of mirrors carved for Keir, Scotland. A related example was sold by Archibald Stirling of Keir, Christie's London, 22 -24 May, 1995, lot 73. Of similar proportions, in both cases the sides feature a variety of motifs linked by ribbon swags while the horizontal elements are characterised by flowing foliate decoraion, carved throughout in rather low relief.
