Tapering cylindrical, the double walled tankard depicting a genre scene of seated revelers, men on horseback hoisting tankards, and figures roasting fowl on a spit, the base and neck with band of ivy and roses, the handle formed as an ivy-clad entwined branch, the cover with a sleeping figure holding as flagon, an empty tankard beneath his foot, the interior gilt, marked under base, also marked with later Austrian control mark
8½ in. (21.5 cm.) high; 37 oz. (1156 gr.)

專家說明

This tankard was produced by a number of firms and fashioned by electrotyping in order to produce exact copies. For example, a French silver firm manufactured the tankard as well as a beaker and pipe, illustrated in John Culme, Nineteenth Century Silver, 1977, p. 175. D. Vollgold & Sohn produced numerous commissions for the Prussian royal family and was known for exhibiting at international exhibitions.
