William Leighton Leitch, R.I. (1804-1883)

Leitch began his career as a scene painter, working closely with Clarkson Stanfield and David Roberts, by whom he considered himself much influenced. He travelled throughout Italy in 1833-1837, and later became Drawing Master to Queen Victoria and her children.
