This work will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné being prepared by the Association Alberto and Annette Giacometti and Mary Lisa Palmer.

The French poet René Char (1907-1988) was a close friend of Alberto Giacometti. The artist executed etchings to illustrate two of Char's books, Poèmes des deux années, 1953-1954 (Paris, 1955) and Retour Amont (Paris, 1965).
