專家說明
This drawing can be compared with two other wooded landscapes dated 1848. Both are in the Kupferstichkabinett, Basel (see Ein Zeichner Der Romantik Friedrich Salathé 1793-1858, exhib. cat., Stuttgart, Staatsgalerie, 1988, nos. 96-97).
Friedrich Salathé studied with Peter and Samuel Birmann in Basel before going to Rome in 1815. Residing in Italy until 1820, Salathé then moved to Paris where he executed some etchings. Throughout his career, even after he left Italy, he enjoyed depicting Italian landscapes such as this one.
