專家說明
This painting derives from Titian's celebrated portrait of King Philip II, now in the Prado, Madrid, of which Rubens made a faithful copy in 1628 (Chatsworth, Derbyshire, by 1722). The present portrait departs from Titian's original in certain areas; for example, the red velvet draped table holding the sitter's helmet, which originally extended behind the sitter, has been shortened, and the scene has been broadened to include an exterior view to the right of the sitter.
