專家說明
Wyld lived in Paris for the large majority of his life, travelling extensively throughout Europe, often accompanied by Horace Vernet (1789-1863). It was with Vernet, Director of the French Academy in Rome, that Wyld visited Italy in 1834. The present watercolour was probably worked up from a sketch made during this trip. Wyld executed other watercolours of this view in Venice and an oil painting, formerly in the collection of the Leggatt Brothers, 1956.
