專家說明

In 1514, the year of the so-called 'Master Prints', when Dürer arguably reached the height of his abilities as an engraver, he engraved this little plate of a Bagpiper. With it he returned to the theme of burlesque or picturesque rustic types, previously encountered in The Turkish Family (lot 11) and The Young Peasant and his Wife (lot 12). Although humble in subject matter, The Bagpiper is technically an extremely accomplished print, and Bartsch considered it to be technically one of Dürer's finest.
