The multi-tiered cabinet has its richly jewelled façade designed as a Renaissance triumphal-arch, and in the manner of the celebrated cabinet at Stourhead, which is reputed to have belonged to Pope Sixtus V (d. 1590). (A. Mitchell at al, Stourhead, p.22)
