專家說明

One of the earliest examples of Andy Warhol's work crossing the boundaries between illustration and fine art..
He practically re-draw's what the viewer sees by literally cutting the paper and dividing the Shoe and Leg into abstracted individual parts that together become whole..
Here we see Warhol's (early) interest in repetition, use of the multi-panel format, and twentieth century modernism and Post-war abstraction.
With hindsight we know about Warhol's desire to leave the successful world of illustration and become a fine artist.
This work is from one of his earliest shows at Serendipity 3 in 1955 and bears the Cafe's label at the lower panel on the reverse.
