With nickel-finished jewelled lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, gold cuvette, the white enamel with blue Arabic numerals, in circular case with chased and engraved floral and scroll decorated bezel, swivel pendant, the hinged back decorated with a gold and green enamel dragon holding a pearl, translucent pink enamel plique-à-jour panels, similarly decorated brooch, cuvette signed and numbered

The appearance of plique-à-jour enamel is closely associated with the skilled craftsmanship of the celebrated Art Nouveau jewellers and artists such as René Lalique, Louis Comfort Tiffany (notably for his famous lamp shades), and Peter Carl Fabergé.

Considered as technical "tour de force", plique-à-jour (loosely translating as "light of day") is the most difficult of all enamelling techniques. It is sometimes referred to as "backless cloisonné" because of the appearance of the fine silver or gold filigrée wire "veins" running through areas of transparent and translucent enamel.
