Robert Kennedy, here with political heavy-weight, Mayor Richard Daley, aggressively campaigned at the Democratic National Convention to win his brother John the vice-presidential candidate nomination. Estes Kefauver won that battle but, together with running-mate Adlai Stevenson, ultimately lost the election to Dwight Eisenhower and Richard Nixon.
