Cartier created the "Santos 100" to commemorate the 100th anniversary in 2004 of the friendship between Cartier's founder, Louis Cartier, and a prominent aviator from Brazil, Alberto Santos Dumont, that resulted in the creation of Cartier's famed first wristwatch.
