專家說明

Fabricated in 1893 at the Illinois Central Raiload Shop, this weathervane was the crowning glory of the newly constructed 12th Street Station in Chicago. The station was located on railroad land at South Michigan Boulevard extending to Lake Michigan. When the station was demolished in about 1960, the weathervane was presented by the Illinois Central Railroad to Delmar W. Yungmeyer, a Chicago railroad enthusiast. Several years later Mr. Yungmeyer gave the weathervane to Arthur D. Dubin, a Chicago architect. Mr. Dubin mounted the weathervane atop his residence in Highland Park, Illinois where it remained for over 40 years.
