‌The Domaine Marquis d'Angerville can trace its beginnings back to 1805. Jacques Marquis d'Angerville completed 53 vintages starting with the harvest in 1950. Following the death of Jacques in 2003, today the Domaine is run by Guillaume Marquis d'Angerville and his brother-in-law Renaud de Villette. The Domaine owns 14 hectares of vineyards, the majority of which are located in Volnay. They own the whole of Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Ducs, and also part of Volnay 1er Cru Champans, Les Frémiets, Taillepieds and Les Caillerets, and have holdings in Meursault 1er Cru Les Santenots and Les Combes in Pommard. Today the vineyard is run biodynamically. Grapes are completely de-stemmed and then cooled for a pre-fermentation maceration. They do not use punching down the cap (pigéage), but prefer pumping over (rémontage).They use a maximum of 25% new oak and age the wines for approximately 15 to 18 months. The wines are usually not filtered nor fined. The Domaine is famous for their outstanding Volnays, particularly their monopole Clos des Ducs which is a wine of real depth and intensity yet retaining elegance and purity.
