"Painting air is really hard; painting air means giving such plasticity, such volume, such a strength to the form of things, that between one object and another you can feel air circulating and that objects appear as if suspended, motionless, yet alive in the air that blows, moves around, while things seem stationary, immobilised, as if by magic, with their frontiers, their promontories, their terraces, their towers, their belvedere, their horizons"
