“This set of studies observes the ever-changing tonal qualities of the tiled façade of the new Tate St Ives. The hand-glazed tiles were fired with multiple layers of glaze over pale yellow ceramic. Tilted gently upwards, they capture the light and reflect the changing colours of the sky. These studies are influenced by the work of the great painter Agnes Martin. But for me they remain architectural drawings, grounded in the language of the measured drawing and material representation.”- Jamie Fobert, 2020
