Lear took the train to Antibes on 26 February to spend the day drawing, and wrote to Mrs Clive 'This day was perfect in loveliness ― & all colour more brilliant & exquisite than it is possible to conceive. The sea ― a sheet of Emerald-green, & [real ult] ― like Maccaw’s tail-feathers.'
