signed and dated 'Michael/Ayrton 46' (lower right), signed again and indistinctly inscribed '"... AND THE EGYPTIAN"/... AYRTON.' (on the artist's label attached to the reverse)

Painted in 1946.

Purchased at the 1947 exhibition by Roger Senhouse.
with Abbott and Holder, London, where purchased by the present owners' parents on 10 May 1973.
