专家说明

Regarding the present work, Helen Cooper writes that Homer "using graphite on tan paper...sketched three boys lounging on the rocks, watching the schooners pass; then, taking a brush loaded with white gouache, his hand moved across the sheet to illuminate the forms and give life to the scene. Henry James would later say that Homer's great merit was that 'he naturally sees everything at one with its envelope of light and air.'"
