NOTE:
The recipient of this calligraphy is Leng Xin (1900-1987). Born in Xinghua, Jiangsu, Leng was the first generation of graduates of Whampoa Military Academy, joining the military afterwards. After retiring in 1959 as Army Lieutenant General, he turned to historical research and was appointed professor of Soochow University and Chinese Culture University.
