专家说明

Ma Liuming graduated from the oil painting department of Hubei Institute of Fine Arts. In the early 1990s, a group of artists utilised their bodies as an artistic language and explored the issues of identity and how it genuinely relates to the everyday environment. Because of his softly defined facial features, Ma Liuming decided that he would use a feminised face and a masculine body to construct an artistic persona with an imaginary gender. Visually, his sexual identity is confusing and misplaced. The artist attempts to use an individualised language and format to investigate the cultural characteristics of the sexes in the society.
