Gerald Bodmer, CEO of Launer London, remembers in the early 1980s seeing a rather humorous cartoon of Mrs. Thatcher waving around a rather understated handbag and it suddenly occurred to him that she should be wearing Launer bags. ‘I sent one of our handbagsÉfrom our mainline collection to her with a cutting of the cartoon, and not long afterwards received a personal letter of thanks from Mrs. Thatcher herself, who adored it.’
