"FIGURES ARE THE FUNDAMENTAL MOTIF OF MY PRACTICE. I AM TRYING TO DRAW CLOSER TO THE COMPLEXITIES OF OUR OWN EXISTENCE, AND THAT OF THE WORLD WE EXIST IN THROUGH DEPICTING THE SOLITARY FIGURES." – TOMOMI NITTA

Since 2010 Tomomi Nitta has continuously worked on Infinity Set , a series of paintings in which she strived to achieve an understanding the whole universe focusing on our cells in life and death. The surrealistic style of the standing female figure illustrates "nothingness," and in this way, Nitta captures the complexities of our own existence.

Nitta's anonymous standing figures are part of our lives and a reflection of us. Blending into the community is a major topic within of Japanese youth culture; this is an aspect of young painters work that differentiates it from the work of elder Japanese artists. Nitta is part of the generation of the information orientated society. The content of her work is always influenced by her surroundings. Nitta focuses on finding the universe through a single figure and mirroring the current Japanese society through her continuous works of in the Infinity Set series.
