A LATE CHURCHILL SIGNATURE, in which he thanks Wood “for your useful and thorough analysis of my expenditure during the last year,” and sends good wishes for the New Year. Churchill’s typist neglected to supply the final digit of the year. The “4” is supplied by an unknown hand. But given the frailty of the signature, it does appear that this dates from the final weeks of his life. Churchill died within a month, on 24 January 1965.
