专家说明

The present lot is based on the original of its type supplied by Jean-Henri Riesener to King Louis XVI on 31 August, 1776. Two years later, a further commode was commissioned and delivered to the King at Fontainebleau, and very shortly thereafter was moved to Versailles. It remained in the possession of the Royal family until 1794 when sold by revolutionary auctioneers, thus beginning a complex journey that took in the collections of the 10th Duke of Hamilton and the Barons Nathaniel and Albert von Rothschild.
