A GEORGE II MAHOGANY LINEN PRESS
CIRCA 1740, IN THE MANNER OF GILES GRENDEY
With cartouche-panelled doors enclosing three oak trays above two short drawers and one long drawer with oak linings, on ogee feet
74.1/4 in. (188.5 cm.) high; 50 in. (127 cm.) wide; 23.1/2 in. (60 cm.) deep

专家说明

Similar cartouche-panelled doors are first seen on linen presses labelled by the London maker Giles Grendey (1693-1780), then on presses by Philip Bell and Henry Kettle. In this case, the old-fashioned cornice and low height suggests a second quarter 18th century date of manufacture.
