etching, 1914, on heavy wove paper, not signed, a rich, tonal impression of this extremely rare print, with the artist's estate stamp verso, with wide margins, probably the full sheet, some minor surface dirt in the margins, various pencil inscriptions at the lower sheet edge recto, generally in good condition
P. 254 x 165 mm., S. 398 x 331 mm.

Estate of the artist (with the Kirchner estate stamp of the Kunstmuseum Basel verso, numbered R 559).
With Galerie Roman Norbert Ketterer, Campione d'Italia, 1964 (cat. no. 101).
With Galerie Theo Hill, Cologne.
Acquired from the above in the late 1970s, then by descent to the present owner.

We are grateful to Professor Günther Gercken, Lütjensee, Germany, for his assistance in cataloguing this lot. Professor Gercken is currently preparing the new catalogue raisonné of prints by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. Gercken records only two impressions of this print, including the present one.
