Drey, Apothecary Jars, London, 1978, p. 195, where he notes 'Cichorium...Chichory...Roots, leaves, flowers and seeds used'. Also see Drey, ibid., p. 199 in relation to the original contents of the second albarello: 'Diaphoenicum...an electuary having purgative action'.
