Château Beychevelle--Vintage 1928
Saint-Julien, 4me cru classé
Newly re-waxed capsule. New Château label with very slight damage. Level into neck. In new Château wooden case
Vintage Report 1928 *****
The first of the famous twin vintages; both great but of totally contrasting weight and style. What produced these massively tannic wine? Summer heat thickened the skins from which were extracted deep colouring matter and tannin. The exceptionally good ripening conditions were responsible for the richness and substantial alcoholic content. This is the longest lived vintage of the decade. M.B.
