Tasting Note: Unquestionably the finest '49. ...20 occasions and have from the start found it enchanting, rich and ripe yet with an indefinable delicacy, and a complete contrast to the unquestionably magnificent, lordly, '45. Perhaps its secret lies in the modest alcoholic content: 10.5 Most recently, a medium-deep autumnal colour; vivacious, fragrant, floral bouquet; rich yet with a lacy delicacy, and exquisite flavour. Last tasted November 2003 ****** (six stars) But drink before it starts to fade away. M.B.
