Of globular form, the top engraved with strapwork, acanthus and portrait medallions, the circular cover with conforming decoration and circular wooden finial, the kettle with raffia-wrapped hinged handle, on triform stand with central burner, the upper rim with pierced decoration, the body engraved with a coat-of-arms, the cover engraved with a crest, marked under base of kettle, stand, burner cover and hinged cap

The arms are those of Putland of Bray Head, Co. Wicklow, and Sarsfield Court, Co. Cork, probably for John Putland of Dublin (1709-1773).

John Putland married Catherine, daughter and eventual co-heir of Sir Emanuel Moore, baronet, of Ross Carberry, Co. Cork, M.P.
