专家说明

This clock closely follows a circa 1825 design by Feuchère & Fossey, renowned bronziers in late 18th- and early 19th-century Paris. The design's rendition of Diana and the stag is in turn derived from the Roman sculpture known as 'Diana of Versailles' in the collection of the Louvre (H. Ottomeyer & P. Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Vol. I, Munich, 1986, p. 398, fig. 5.18.14). With the same figural scene, Sienna marble base and wreath mount, a virtually identical clock is in the Spanish Royal Collection (Colon de Carvajal, Catalog de Relojos del Patrimonio National, Madrid, 1987, p. 319, no. 308) and a closely related example sold Christie's, King Street, 17 March 2011, lot 116 (£6,875 with premium).
