"The '98 La Mission is perhaps in a dumb phase at this tasting. While there is plenty of bright red berry fruit, there is little apparent depth or complexity on the nose. On the palate there is fresh acidity and plenty of tannin, but the wine lacks the richness here that would make it stand out. A bit disappointing. I imagine that it will improve with age in the bottle."
