Sugata [configuration]: honzukuri, shallow even curve, chu-gissaki nobiru
Kitae [forging pattern]: ko-itame with shirake utsuri
Hamon [tempering pattern]: choji midare with gunome, sections of suguha-cho with many ashi, yo, and some tobiyaki of nioi
Boshi [tip]: midare-komi with ko-maru with
Nakago [tang]: osuriage, three mekugi-ana, kiri file marks on the upper part, and indistinct on the old part of the tang, kirijiri
Habaki [collar]: gilt copper
Nagasa [length of blade]: 65.3cm.
Koshirae [mounting]: a rare and good quality Meiji era military mounting, the scabbard wrapped with leather and lacquered brown, silver alloy fittings with stipple effect surface finish, the kojiri of Western sabre form, two bands for suspension rings (one missing), the tsuka bound with spiral indented ray skin bound with wire, a cherry blossom applied to the kashira, screw type mekugi in the form of cherry blossoms, mokko patinated copper tsuba with scattered paulownia mon, hana-bishi, and cherry blossoms in sunken relief.
