Tasting note: Top of the St. Estèphes and exceptionally rich for Montrose and a '96. Flesh, fruit and depth noted as it approached the millennium. In 2003 noted as sweet, ripe but very tannic, settling down to a long haul. Most recently: good colour; sweet, ripe, cedary nose; very flavoury, good fruit, a trifle lean and tannic.
