With Longines original fitted wooden presentation box, a metal slide in the band to activate the repeating mechanism while the watch is stored inside.
It is interesting to note that a similar Westminister carillon minute repeating watch, numbered 3782, only six digits apart from the present watch, was sold in this saleroom on 14 May 2007, lot 119.
The carillon repeating mechanism is more complicated than the better known quarter or minute repeating function and is more commonly found in clock watches. It features three or four gongs instead of only two. The quarter hours of the present watch are stroke on four hammers onto four gongs and chime the Westminster tune.
