专家说明

An homage to Vincent van Gogh, Huszár paints his sunflowers in a lyrical semi-abstract style. The present lot is a rare example of the artist's interest in the Italian Futurists, painted in 1915, just one year before he met Van Doesburg and began working in a his later abstract geometric style. In 1917 Huszár co-founded De Stijl and produced the first cover design for the magazine.

The first owner of the present lot was the vicar H. van Assendelft from Gouda, a close friend of Mondrian. Van Assendelft was an avid collector of Modern art and owned several works by Mondrian, Van der Leck and Severini.
