Size 18 full-plate nickel-finished lever movement with unusual damascening, bi-metallic compensation balance, gold cuvette, white enamel dial, Turkish numerals, sunken subsidiary seconds, B.W. C. C. Co circular engraved case, both covers with Islamic gardens with fountain and mosque, landscape in the background, surrounded by abstract scroll and foliate design, engraved scroll design to the band, both rims with reeding, dial and movement signed, case signed and numbered

Introduced in 1900, the Waltham Crescent St. was the top Model 1883 grade, which was adjusted for temperature and in six positions. It was used as a railroad watch, so met all the strict timing requirements.

The use of Turkish numerals is very rare in American horology.

Damascene is an engraving similar to guilloché and was first practiced by the U.S. Watch Company of Marion, New Jersey. The work could be done either by hand or machine made with textured patterns of spots and lines into the polished plates.
