The painting was a gift from Zhang Daqian to the present owner who was a neighbour in his late teens, during the time when the artist lived in Brazil in the early 1950s.

专家说明

Zhang Daqian depicted Guanyin in a kindly, compassionate posture of Bhodi Pallanka (seat of enlightenment) amid rocks. She gazes at the "pure bottle" which is said to offer benedictions. Guanyin is drawn with carefully modelled lines, with her garment rendered in "double outlines" to accentuate the lightness of the material which lends to the tranquil surrounding and atmosphere.
